"An Inspector Calls" by J. B. Priestley

Hello Readers!

To all the new visitors, welcome to Coffee & Wisdom! An online book club where book-lovers and coffee-drinkers come together to discuss books!!

March has just started, and this month we will be focusing on plays & playwrights. Think of the famous literary icons such as William Shakespeare and Agatha Christie, or the renowned and well known plays like A Streetcar named Desire, The Crucible and Othello

Our very first book that we'll be discussing this month is An Inspector Calls by J. B. Priestley: a mystery/crime play about a rich and elite family accused of influencing the suicide of a working-class woman. Centering around this 'mystery woman', an enigmatic 'inspector' investigating the case causes each character to reveal buried secrets linked to the suicide, leading the audience towards the answer to the question "why did she kill herself?".
It is an absolute must-read, with a mind-twisting plot-twist at the end 😉.

For each discussion of a book, three questions will be asked as prompts to get you guys talking!

1. What are your opinions on each character, in particular Mr. Birling?

2. Who is Inspector Goole and what do you think his purpose was?

3. Any thoughts, comments or theories about the ending?

*WARNING*
This will contain spoilers!
